Sunrise Dreaming

Hey Ben,
I am enjoying looking through your blog at such beautiful and atmospheric photos. You are very fortunate to be absorbing the culture, countryside and details locked into your music tradition. I have not seen Japan in the autumn/winter season. The moonrising/sunsets and misty visages look very different. I have heard from Kakizaki Sensei that you are making substantial progress with shakuhachi playing. I enjoyed this last week catching up with him and Furuya +Matama Sensei and Megumi on koto at Hawaii Shak Festival. We also had minute opportunities to relax on Sunset Beach near pipeline. The dawdling, relaxed, friendly, humid atmosphere in Honolulu is very shakuhachi-friendly. Just got my 2.1 Miura flute and I am working on Shingetsu with it - very beautiful [stretching my fingers and breath simultaneously]. Gambatte! Kirsty Komuso.
